Apollo Atomics

How do you explain a complex engineering invention to an audience that has no background knowledge on the subject matter in as little time as possible and then compel them to invest? That was the challenge of this launch video for Apollo Atomics, a nuclear power startup that is working to build the most power dense nuclear power plants in the world.

Apollo needed a 2-minute launch video for their Y-Combinator debut to maximize interest in the company for their seed fundraising round. The goal was to persuade investors that Apollo has a credible path to making nuclear power cheap, abundant, and fast to build.

Our theory was that to maximize credibility, we would need to explain Apollo's invention and strategy in as clear and detailed a fashion as possible. The challenge was that we couldn't show or give away anything proprietary. That led us to the idea to go into detail explaining the underlying technological breakthrough with a concise script and 3D animations and then use detailed charts to lend a feeling of rigor to their projections.

The video was wrapped in a hook—that we prototyped with the help of gen-AI and tested in EDART and Scroll Stopper against other ideas—and a tight script that packed as much information as possible into the 2-minute runtime.
